1) How do you proceed if I have products available ? Top  

  • We will present you with an offer for some or all of your products.

  • If you accept the offer, we will buy the materials, for an immediate delivery to our warehouse.

  • For more specialized products or custom-made chemicals, we will look for potential buyers before proceeding with an offer.

2) What information do you need for my surpluses ? Top

  • Generic names or trademarks, quantities, and names of manufacturers, if available.

  • Market values or original costs would save time evalutating the products, but are not essential.

  • The more data and documents you have, including certificates of analysis, the faster the reply. 

3) How do you keep your transactions confidential ? Top

  • All products go through our warehouse, for quality control, and repackaging, when needed.

  • All labels, except the manufacturer's labels, are removed. 

  • The name of your company does not appear on any documents or containers.

  • "Blind-shipments are worked out for bulk or drop-shipments.

4) Do I have to pay a commission or any service fee ? Top

  • There are no fees for evaluating and listing your surplus chemicals.

  • If you accept our offer, Stobec assumes all expenses, no additional commission is involved. 

5) Who pays for transportation and related costs ? Top

  • Stobec assumes all expenses, including freight, duty, brokerage, repackaging, sampling, labeling, paperwork...

6) How much cash return can I get back  ? Top

  • For recent and documented products in perfect condition, offer can be as high as 85% of actual market value. 

  • Typical offer will be between 30 to 70 % of actual market value.

  • Low market value material or outdated products can be accepted on a no charge basis. 

7) How much time before I get an offer  ? Top

  • Within a few days, for easily marketable products.

  • A few weeks for products with a more limited application and market. 

8) Do you have warehousing facilities ? Top

  • Stobec can accept large quantities of non-flammable chemicals in its Montreal warehouse.

  • Highly flammable products can be warehoused at a different location or shipped directly to customers.

9) How about small quantities or opened containers ? Top

  • Small quantities or part containers can be accepted if they are part of a larger lot.

  • Product with a nominal value of $ 400 can be accepted. 

10) Do you handled damaged drums or bags ? Top

  • Stobec is fully equipped to repackage damaged or old containers, caked material, or products stored outside. 

11) What kind of chemicals do you work with ? Top

  • Any chemicals in powder, semi-liquid or liquid form.

  • Pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, resins, solvents, surfactants, specialties, intermediates, fine chemicals, pigments, dyes, colours, fragrances, oils, plastics, additives, plasticizers, catalysts, hazardous chemicals, food chemicals by-products, ...

  • Large or small quantities; bags, drums, bullk, ...

  • Products must be worth at least $ 400 each, in order to justify their resale, and all related costs, unless they are part of a larger lot.

12) How about hazardous chemicals ? Top

  • Stobec personel is fully trained to handled all hazardous chemicals, except radio-active materials and explosives.

  • Stobec complies with all safety and transportation regulations and procedures.

13) Do I have to manifest my surpluses ? Top

  • As long as your products are sold to us, they are considered as recyclable materials and manifests are therefore not needed.

14) Will you inspect the chemicals before buying them ? Top

  • Stobec can proceed with a prompt on-site inspection before shipment.

  • Stobec can also inspect and sample the chemicals once in-stock in its warehouse.

15) How about environmental protection ? Top

  • Our track record since 1977 is excellent, no spills, no reportable incidents and no legal procedures.

  • Every product is carefully evaluated before Stobec can assumes its responsability.

16) Which geographical area do you cover ? Top

  • Anywhere in Canada and U.S.A, including Alaska.

17) Will you also take my laboratory chemicals ? Top

  • Sorry, laboratory chemicals are almost impossible to resell, once opened. 

18) How about chemicals with a very low market value, outdated, or off-specs ? Top

  • Stobec often accepts product lots for a nominal amount of money 1.  Because those products are being sold as raw materials, they are not considered as waste chemicals and manifests are therefore not required.  This alternative to disposal saves you time, money, and paperwork.

19) How can I be sure of the quality of the products I would like to buy ? Top

  • Stobec proceeds with a careful inspection of each product and document prior to shipment 

  • Samples are always available. Certificates of analysis are available for most chemicals

  • If not fully satisfied, you can return the product within 30 days, with no conditions or penalties attached.

20) Do I have to buy the whole lot ? Top

  • In most cases, it is possible to buy only part of the quantity listed. 

  • USP materials in sealed containers must be sold with a minimum quantity of one container.  

21) Are you a government agency ? Top

  • No, Stobec is a private company. 

  • Stobec collaborates with many governments agencies, environmental groups, and wastes exchanges.

22) Who do you deal with ? Top

  • We buy surplus from chemical manufacturers, distributors, importers, governments, trustees, banks, freight carriers, insurance companies ... We cover the following industries: pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, personal care, detergents, intermediates, paints and coatings, adhesives, pulp and paper, water treatment, building materials, food chemicals, waxes, fragrances, pigments & dyes, and many more.
